Industrial design and engineering input for an autonomous laser-weeding platform for specialty crops.
I'm Erik Veurman. For thirteen years I've worked alongside founders, R&D teams and makers, turning early ideas into products people actually want to use. Now I'm continuing that work as owner of Scope Design & Strategy.
I work across the physical product spectrum: coffee machines, RFID systems, agricultural equipment, healthcare devices, consumer interfaces. But the part I enjoy most is the same every time, sitting down with a team and figuring it out together.
My role is to sit between an ambition and a working product, translating what a client needs into something that can be designed, engineered, certified and built, without losing what made the idea exciting in the first place.
After thirteen years working in product design, I took over ownership of Scope in 2026, continuing a studio that's been turning hardware ambitions into products since 1997. The course has changed hands, but the way we work, close, curious and hands-on, hasn't.
Scope is a full-service product design engineering and strategy studio, and these are the disciplines clients come to us for most.
Form, ergonomics and experience for physical products, from first sketches through to design-for-manufacture.
Mechanical and electromechanical engineering that turns a concept into something producible, testable and certifiable.
Helping R&D teams, founders and funded hardware innovators decide what to build next, and how to industrialize it.
Working models and pilot builds that de-risk decisions early, so the design intent survives the journey to production.
From coffee machines and RFID to agricultural tech, healthcare products, industrial equipment and consumer interfaces.
We embed in your process rather than disappearing into ours, so the people who'll live with the product help shape it.
We start by getting underneath the request: the market, the user, the constraints that actually matter, together with your team.
Exploring directions in form and function, so we land on a concept that's worth taking further.
The concept is worked through in detail, with early engineering checks to make sure it holds up.
Full engineering, materials and tolerances that hold up under manufacturing, certification and cost targets.
Support through to production, so what ships is what we designed together.
Scope has been designing and engineering products for clients across industries since 1997, using design, technology and ergonomics as tools to make brands and products distinctive.
I joined the studio as a senior designer and spent years working alongside the team before taking over ownership from Pim, who remains part of Scope today. I'm a University of Twente alumnus, and somewhere along the way picked up a Red Dot Design Award for one of the products I worked on.
